The NCAA has announced that Oklahoma City will host one of the eight 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball 1st/2nd Rounds at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. This marks the fifth time since 1998 that Oklahoma City has played host to a NCAA Men’s Basketball Preliminary round. (1998, 2003, 2005 & 2010)

“We are ecstatic to host the NCAA first and second rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for the first time since 2010. We have a long and storied history with this prestigious event and the memories created in OKC when we have hosted are some of the most memorable of all time”, said All Sports Executive Director, Tim Brassfield. “The tournament is one of the greatest sporting events each year and we are thrilled as an organization to co-host with the Big 12 Conference and bring it to the fans of OKC.”

The NCAA also announced that the rounds of 64 and 32 will return to being called the first and second rounds in 2016.
