Epic Performance Athletes, continuing to grow and serve the rodeo community, has partnered with Oklahoma State University to expand into mainstream sports by hosting free clinics July 29 through August 3 on the university campus.

What began as a vision in 2015 quickly became a reality when Epic Performance Athletes founder and president Shelly Weaver and a core team of professionals produced the organization’s first free barrel racing clinic. Over the years the clinics began to grow annually, add disciplines and have a more robust geographical presence. By 2018 the clinic included all eight rodeo disciplines and had more than 5,000 in attendance, thus becoming the largest rodeo clinic in the world.

“We stepped into Epic expecting greatness and that is exactly what has happened. The response from athletes, coaches and volunteers has exceeded our expectations. The growth that has transpired is due to tremendous teamwork. The result is nothing short of Epic” says Shelly Weaver

Epic Performance Athletes was created to allow children grades 9-12 the opportunity to grow their passion for sports with the help of professional athletes and coaches. Focus is put on each individual young athlete's talent including mental stamina, physical endurance and personal growth, driving each to be Epic. The new partnership with Oklahoma State University and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes advances the overall focus of the organization to include the world of mainstream sports in addition to western/rodeo sports. The community has stands strong with Epic Performance Athletes, the support and resources Visit Stillwater offer can’t be matched.

Cristy Morrison, President and CEO, “The Visit Stillwater team and Board of Directors look forward to continuing to serve as the local Epic contact for their week-long youth athletics event that will be expanded in Stillwater. We are happy to connect Epic coordinators with OSU Athletics, Stillwater FCA, and other local partners, as well as hotel room blocks, to assist in planning an event of this magnitude.”

Life skills such as leadership and mental toughness are an element within the clinics as well as nutrition and fitness education. A team of licensed counselors, fitness experts, nutritionists, and life coaches from make it possible to provide this platform.

“As an accomplished athlete in high school, playing football, running track and wrestling, which I also did at the collegiate level I know how imperative it is to have good training, discipline and support from family,” said John Talley Oklahoma House of Representatives. “The most important thing I learned as an athlete that has helped me excel throughout my life and career is being informed and networking.  I see the Epic clinics allowing students to train and be informed about how to be a better athlete.  Getting to learn from the industries professionals will allow our youth to get information first hand that will prepare them for college and success in life.”

As a 501c3sports minded, faith based Christian non-profit, Epic Performance Athletes’ mission outside of offering and executing reliable and educational clinics is to create an organization that will take the time and means of its contributors and make resources available full circle. At each main and mini clinic there will be a canned food drive for local foodbanks and homeless shelters that will provide the opportunity to give back to the community in an even broader way.

In addition to the partnership with Oklahoma State University, Epic Performance Athletes is also aligned with the Oklahoma Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
