Over 1,000 youth and junior triathletes from around the United States will arrive in West Chester, Ohio,  to compete in the 2017 USA Triathlon Youth & Junior National Championships at Voice of America Park, August 5-6, 2017.

A partnership between USA Triathlon and the Butler County Visitors Bureau brings this event to West Chester for the sixth consecutive year. The 2017 event is the first year of a new 5-year agreement between USA Triathlon and the Butler County Visitors Bureau to host the event in West Chester through 2021.

Competitors, ranging from beginners to elite racers, will compete in triathlon, an Olympic sport featuring a combination of swimming, biking and running events. The event’s athletes, supporters and spectators will bring an estimated $1.9 million impact to the local economy.

“The support that the entire Butler County community has shown to this event is unparralleled”, said Brian D’Amico, USA Triathlon National Events Director. “Pulling together countless pieces to ensure the success of the event could not be done without the Butler County Visitors Bureau and their partners.”

Youth elite and junior elite triathletes will complete in a draft-legal format. The event is open to the public. Races will take place between 8am and 1pm on Saturday, August 5 and 7:30am and 1pm on Sunday, August 6.

“Butler County is excited that USA Triathlon has chosen West Chester as the host for the Youth & Junior National Championships through 2021,” said Mark Hecquet, Executive Director of the Butler County Visitors Bureau. “This means thousands of athletes and spectators will travel to our community over the coming years pumping millions of dollars into the local economy.
