The Butler County Visitors Bureau announced that USA Triathlon has selected West Chester, Ohio to host the 2016 Youth & Junior National Championships. This will be the fifth and final year for Butler County to host the event, which is expected to bring $2.0 million in economic impact to local communities.
After the 2015 event sold out at 950 participants, entries will be expanded to 1,100 for the 2016 edition. This will represent the largest field for this event to date. Competitors, ranging from beginners to top rising stars, will compete in triathlon, a sport featuring a combination of swimming, biking and running events.
A partnership between USA Triathlon and the Butler County Visitors Bureau brings this event back to West Chester for the fifth consecutive year. Tremendous support from the Butler County Emergency Management Agency, Butler County Sheriff’s Office, West Chester Police Department, Butler County MetroParks and many other community organizations along with the continued growth in event registration numbers created important decision factors in selecting Butler County over other competing destinations.
“We are excited to welcome USA Triathlon back to Butler County in 2016,” said Mark Hecquet, Executive Director of the Butler County Visitors Bureau. “The continued cooperation between local organizations has helped this event to grow year over year. We look forward to putting a first-class event together and welcoming thousands of participants, family members and spectators in 2016.”
