Over 1,000 youth and junior triathletes from around the United States will arrive in West Chester, Ohio this weekend to compete in the 2021 USA Triathlon Youth & Junior Nationals at Voice of America MetroPark, July 31-August 1, 2021.

A partnership between USA Triathlon and the Butler County Visitors Bureau brings this event to West Chester for the ninth year. The 2021 event is the fourth year of a 5-year agreement between USA Triathlon and the Butler County Visitors Bureau to host the event in West Chester through 2022.

Competitors, ranging from beginners to elite racers, will compete in triathlon, an Olympic sport featuring a combination of swimming, biking, and running events. The event’s athletes, supporters, and spectators will bring an estimated $1.5 million impact to the local economy.

“Hosting a first-class event for more than 1,000 young athletes and their families is always a tall task, but even more so this year as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Brian D’Amico, Director of Events at USA Triathlon. “As they have for the previous eight years, the Butler County Visitors Bureau, the City of West Chester and the local authorities have been truly incredible partners and we can’t thank them enough throughout what has been a 16-month process to ensure we are putting on a safe and enjoyable event for everyone. We look forward to celebrating the return of this event to West Chester after a one-year hiatus and the next generation of multisport athletes participating throughout the weekend.”

Youth elite and junior elite groups will take to the course on Saturday, July 31 and age-groups as well as relay teams will compete on Sunday, August 1. Youth elite and junior elite triathletes will complete in a draft-legal format. The event is open to the public. Races will take place between 8am and 1pm on Saturday, July 31 and 7:30am and 1pm on Sunday, August 1.

“Butler County is proud to partner with USA Triathlon to host the 2021 Youth & Junior Nationals,” said Mark Hecquet, President & CEO of the Butler County Visitors Bureau. “With thousands of athletes and spectators traveling to our community, businesses large and small will feel the impact of this group as they shop, eat, and explore our region. We look forward to another premier event and an incredible competition with USA Triathlon and our partners in the community.”

Entrance to Voice of America MetroPark will be located off of Butler Warren Road during the event on July 31-August 1. Volunteer opportunities for this year’s event are still available at www.usatriathlon.org/yjncvolunteer.
