The Butler County Visitors Bureau in conjunction with the Cincinnati Weightlifting Club welcome 2013 USA Weightlifting National Championships to Butler County on July 26-28 at SkateTown USA in West Chester.

“This is the premier event on the weightlifting calendar and top notch competition and excitement will take place over the entire weekend,” said Chris Cleary, meet director for the 2013 USA Weightlifting National Championships and president of Cincinnati Weightlifting. “We're looking forward to having a good turn-out from area weightlifting fans and spectators. We hope to make it an appealing event to all so they can come out and see what the sport is all about.”

The national championship event will feature the reigning Women’s National Champion in the 75+ kilogram category and 2012 U.S. Olympian, Sarah Robles, and state record holder and nationally ranked lifter, Keith Connolly of Cincinnati Weightlifting. The event is USA Weightlifting’s premier weightlifting event and is the primary qualifier for teams representing the U.S. at the World Championships in 2013. This year, the event will include 216 athletes, a record breaking number of competitors for this national championship event.

“These athletes are among the top competitors in their sport and we are excited to welcome them to Butler County,” said Mark Hecquet, Executive Director of the Butler County Visitors Bureau. “The event is expected to draw over 200 competitors from across the nation to Butler County and have an estimated economic impact of $375,000.”

Members of the community and media are invited to come out and enjoy the events during the 2013 USA Weightlifting National Championships July 26-28 (9 a.m. – 8 p.m.) at SkateTown USA in West Chester. The event is free and open to the public.
