Two-Day Inaugural Event to Draw Over 4,000 Athletes and Supporters

Athletes, coaches and spectators from around the country will travel to the Voice of America Park Athletic Complex in West Chester, Ohio this weekend to compete in the inaugural Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) deBeer Midwest Cup June 27-28, 2015.

Over 4,000 athletes and supporters will participate in the two-day tournament hosted by Corrigan Sports in association with the Butler County Visitors Bureau at the Voice of America Park Athletic Complex. In addition over 130 college coaches are expected to attend this two-day tournament. The tournament will represent the first time Corrigan Sports, a major sports event company, has held a tournament in the Midwest. The event is expected bring an estimated $750,000 impact to the local economy.

“As the exclusive management company of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association recruiting tournament series, we are excited to expand our IWLCA tournament portfolio and bring the inaugural IWLCA deBeer Midwest Cup to West Chester, Ohio,” said Lee Corrigan, President of Corrigan Sports. “Being able to utilize twelve fields at one location is extremely beneficial as it allows us to give both the college coaches as well as the student-athletes a great tournament experience.”

The tournament will feature girls club teams representing high school classes of 2016, 2017 and 2018. The tournament’s “showcase format” will allow athletes the opportunity for exposure to college coaches and programs. Women’s lacrosse follows the same general rules as traditional men’s lacrosse with slight modifications for number of players, physical contact and general field set up.

“Butler County is thrilled to welcome the inaugural IWLCA deBeer Midwest Cup,” said Mark Hecquet, Executive Director of the Butler County Visitors Bureau. “Our location, premier facilities and strong staff support brought this event to our community. We look forward to showcasing the best we have to offer to the lacrosse world and Corrigan Sports.”
