The inaugural USA Masters Games, to be held July 22 to July 31, 2016, in Greensboro, NC marks the launch of a new multi-sport event for competitive adult athletes. The USA Masters Games will provide both a “national-championships-level” competitive experience in each sport and a fun, entertaining environment conducive to meeting and socializing with fellow Masters athletes from across the U.S. and other countries of the world – a Sports Festival for Masters athletes.
The USA Masters Games will feature 20 or more sports, hosted at some of the country’s finest venues. In addition, there will be a Games Village that will serve as a central hub or gathering point for all Games athletes and fans. With an Opening Ceremonies, Closing Ceremonies, and, of course, high-quality awards, the USA Masters Games experience will be second to none.
The USA Masters Games are planned as a summertime event, to be held every even year, beginning in 2016. Even years are also Olympic years, which is perfect timing for a multi-sports event that will include a number of Olympic sports.
Competition at the Games is for athletes 21 years of age and older. Participation will generally require an athlete to be registered and in good standing with their sport’s governing body.
