Greensboro Welcomes Irish Dancing Competition

Grab your jig shoes and mark your calendars April 14 - 21, 2019 as Greensboro welcomes The World Championships in Irish Dancing at the Koury Convention Center.

After making the short list Greensboro was among three cities asked to present in Dublin, Ireland to the Irish Dancing Commission. Representatives from the Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Sheraton Four Season/Koury Convention Center pitched why Greensboro was the best place to hold their Championships in 2019.

"It is exciting that Greensboro has secured a world competition. This victory is the result of Greensboro teamwork and the event comes at a time to fill the void of other lost business" stated Henri Fourrier, President/CEO, Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau.        

"We are very excited and look forward to having the Irish Dancing Championships in Greensboro.  With a successful partnership and collaboration between our hotel and the Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau we were able to win over Orlando, Florida and Birmingham, England" said Mo Milani, Executive Vice President Koury Corporation Hospitality Division, General Manager, Sheraton Greensboro Hotel/Joseph S. Koury Convention Center.
