Greensboro Celebrating One Year Until Start of Masters Games

Greensboro, NC, is celebrating its one-year-out date from the inaugural USA Masters Games. The Games will be held in Greensboro, July 22-31, 2016. The Games are a celebration of adult sports, for participants ages 21 and over, with Opening Ceremonies, Closing Ceremonies, Games Village, and over 20 different Masters sports.

The USA Masters Games management team is working to finalize sports and open registration before the end of the summer. Sports being considered for the Games include: baseball, basketball, bowling, canoe/kayak, cycling, diving, figure skating, golf, ice hockey, kickball, lacrosse, martial arts, road racing, rowing, rugby, soccer, softball, swimming, synchronized swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track & field, triathlon, ultimate fitness, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting, and wrestling.

Competition will take place in the world-class venues in Greater Greensboro including Bryan Park, Spencer Love Tennis Center, Greensboro Sportsplex, University of North Carolina - Greensboro, N.C. A&T State University, and the Greensboro Ice House, among others. The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, which includes the Greensboro Coliseum and the Greensboro Aquatic Center, will serve as the Games Village, the hub of the 2016 USA Masters Games.

Officials for the Games are calling this the first-ever National Sports Festival for Masters athletes.
