The Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission is pleased to announce that Marine Federal Credit Union has signed an agreement to move forward as the 2015 & 2016 title sponsor of the Onslow County High School Football Jamboree.
The event, now titled the Marine Federal Credit Union Football Jamboree, will take place on Friday, August 14, 2015, and feature all eight (8) Onslow County High School Football teams as well as other teams from outside of the county. Those additional teams will be announced at a later date.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Marine Federal Credit Union as part of this event,” said Ashleigh Bachert, Executive Director of the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission. “They are the perfect fit for an event that not only benefits our local community and schools but our Marine Corps community as well.”
Last year’s inaugural Onslow County High School Football Jamboree featured all eight (8) Onslow County High School JV and Varsity football teams. The event was held aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, had over 1,700 fans in attendance, and was covered by 10 different media outlets.
“The jamboree was started to create a local kick-off event to the high school football season where coaches could prepare their teams for the upcoming season while providing a great experience for the fans,” commented Bachert. “The event was, and will continue to be, a fundraiser for the high school athletic programs (in 2014, each school received a check for $600 for participating in the event).”
