Golden Goal Sports Park in Fort Ann will once again transform into a Halloween-themed soccer destination this fall as it hosts the 4th Annual Northstars 7v7 Cauldron Cup Fall Tournament on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
This year’s event will bring together 110 youth teams and more than 1,600 players ages 7–14 from across the Northeast, New England, and Canada. Families can expect a day filled with spirited soccer competition, memorable experiences, and Halloween fun in the heart of the Southern Adirondacks.
“The Cauldron Cup is more than just a soccer tournament—it’s an event that combines competition, family fun, and the unique atmosphere of the Lake George region,” said Gina Mintzer, Executive Director of the Lake George Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We’re thrilled to welcome players, families, and coaches to experience our world-class facilities, stunning Adirondack backdrop, and the kind of festive, creative energy that makes this tournament truly stand out.”
Hosted by the Northstars Soccer Club of Syracuse, NY, the Cauldron Cup is part of the club’s renowned tournament series. Known for its creativity and high-energy format, the tournament has quickly become a signature fall sports event in the region. Last year’s event sold out, and this year promises to build on that momentum.
What makes the Cauldron Cup unique is its combination of high-level youth soccer and Halloween spirit. Games are staged on turf fields with stadium lighting, setting the perfect stage for “under the lights” matchups as dusk falls. Off the field, families and players can enjoy a lineup of Halloween-themed activities including:
Costume contests and a spooky photo booth
Pumpkin carving and face painting
S’mores, hot cider, and food trucks
Music, merchandise, and community fun
Tournament Director Todd Cook, who famously referees in full “Ted Lasso” costume, describes the event as “the youth soccer equivalent of the Savannah Bananas or Harlem Globetrotters—competitive, but filled with laughter, creativity, and unforgettable moments.”
Mintzer added, “This event is a wonderful example of how sports tourism enhances our region, drawing visitors who support local hotels, restaurants, and attractions while making memories they’ll cherish long after the final whistle.”
The event is also supported by generous local sponsors, with opportunities still available for businesses to get involved. Proceeds help offset facility rental costs and ensure the tournament’s continued growth.
