The Atlantic City Marathon Race Series welcomes the G. Larry James Foundation as the title sponsor of the 2025 Atlantic City 5K, part of the AmeriHealth Atlantic City Marathon race weekend, Oct. 18-19.

The G. Larry James Foundation honors the life and enduring legacy of Olympic gold medalist and world record holder G. Larry James, whose remarkable career and lifelong dedication to youth development, athletic excellence and community service continue to inspire athletes of all ages.

“It is an honor to have the race named after my husband, Larry James,” said Cynthia James, chair of the G. Larry James Foundation. “We are thankful to partner with the Marjorie & Lewis Katz JCC to help keep his legacy alive. Larry loved seeing people succeed – especially young people – and he believed in ‘keeping the main thing the main thing, because you become what you think you are.’”

“Larry James was a champion on and off the track, and this partnership celebrates his commitment to athletic achievement and community engagement,” Atlantic City Marathon Race Series Committee Chair Eric Share said.

The race series is managed year-round by the Marjorie & Lewis Katz Jewish Community Center of Atlantic County under the leadership of Race Director Genia Sperling. True to the JCC’s mission of community connection, the ACMRS brings together runners of all backgrounds for races and wellness events throughout the year.

“The JCC is honored to manage the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series and to create experiences where everyone – from first-time 5K participants to elite marathoners – feels welcome,” Sperling said. “This partnership with the G. Larry James Foundation reflects our shared belief that running builds bridges and strengthens community.”

The Atlantic City Marathon Race Series is the third oldest ongoing marathon in the United States, offering runners a chance to experience the scenic beauty of Absecon Island and the excitement of Atlantic City’s iconic Boardwalk. Events include the AmeriHealth New Jersey Atlantic City Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and the G. Larry James Foundation 5K.
