Vegas, Baby! USATT Open Headed for Nevada this Summer

The 2015 U.S. Open, the premier international table tennis tournament in the country, will be held July 6-11 in Las Vegas it was announced today by USA Table Tennis CEO Gordon Kaye.

USA Table Tennis (USATT) noted the event will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 6 - July 11, 2015. Hotel and event prospectus information will be released next week.

The tournament is expected to attract more than 1,000 players from around the world competing for one of the sport's most prestigious titles. Events include men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and over fifty other age and rated classified events.

"We are pleased to stay in Las Vegas one of the great sporting capitals in the world," said Kaye. “Las Vegas is a city that loves its action and table tennis is a perfect fit with our high voltage excitement and fast paced matches. We are looking forward to bringing some of the world's best table tennis action back to Las Vegas."

Last year's men's singles champion was Wenzhang Tao (China) and women's winner was Yuko Fukii (Japan). The Japanese also swept the three doubles events.

This year's event schedule features a total of 93 events, with the addition of a number of new events, including a 41-point handicap, several over 18 rated events, an under 2000 Tiered Super Round Robin, and Women's hardbat and sandpaper events.
