Las Vegas Super Sprint to be Shown on Universal Sports on Oct. 1

Hour-Long Broadcast Showcases Unique Spectator-Friendly Triathlon Format

Men's and women's race coverage from the Las Vegas stop of the elite 2014 USA Triathlon Super Sprint Series will be televised on Universal Sports Network on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m., showcasing a unique triathlon format on the rise in the U.S.

 

A 60-minute national broadcast of the Super Sprint Triathlon Grand Prix, held Sept. 11 under the lights in Las Vegas, will premiere at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific on Oct. 1. Ten women and 10 men completed two continuous circuits of a 300-meter swim in a portable pool, 5-kilometer bike and 2-kilometer run in the finals with a share of the $70,000 prize purse on the line. The women's final featured five Olympians and a sprint finish in the final straightaway, while top-10 world ranked Australian Aaron Royle and American mile record-holder Alan Webb participated in the men's final. The network's broadcast team will be Craig Hummer on play-by-play alongside analyst and 2008 U.S. Olympian Julie Ertel Swail.

 

Universal Sports will also show encore presentations of the event on Oct. 1 at 11 p.m., Oct. 2 at 3 a.m., Oct. 3 at 1 a.m., Oct 4 at 4 a.m., and Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. (all times Eastern.)

The USA Triathlon Super Sprint Series was launched in 2013 to showcase the world's best elite triathletes in an exciting, spectator-friendly format, and returned to Las Vegas for the second year. The race was produced by USA Triathlon and KANGA Productions at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
