The PGA TOUR and PGA of America have teamed up in support of the Las Vegas community’s ongoing recovery, announcing a “Golf Fore Las Vegas” charity golf tournament scheduled Monday, Nov. 20, at TPC Las Vegas.

Together, the TOUR and PGA, as well as sponsors from the golf industry, will honor those who risk their lives daily for the protection of others, inviting local first responders to participate in the one-day event. Proceeds will be donated to the Direct Impact Fund by way of PGA TOUR Charities, which will be distributed to various outlets for support services for the victims of the Las Vegas shootings.

This is the same fund that several PGA TOUR professionals have designated to receive pledges from their performance at this week’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, which begins on Thursday at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.  Charley Hoffman, a UNLV grad and former Las Vegas resident, led the way by announcing he will donate 100 percent of his prize money to the cause.

“Charley Hoffman has set an amazing example for all of us, immediately offering to use his platform as a PGA TOUR player to help those impacted by the Las Vegas shootings,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. “We’re honored to join in his efforts to raise money for the Direct Impact Fund, and are grateful to our friends at the PGA of America for partnering with us as well.  We hope the Golf Fore Las Vegas event shines a light on the incredible work of our nation’s first responders.  Our heartfelt thanks goes out to them, as does our pledge to support those impacted by this terrible tragedy.”

“In trying times, golf’s extended family consistently comes together to offer assistance, and that’s why the PGA of America is proud to partner with the PGA TOUR to host the Golf Fore Las Vegas charitable event at TPC Las Vegas,” said PGA President Paul Levy.  “This is a special opportunity to thank the first responders who served so courageously in the face of unthinkable tragedy.   It’s also a time to honor and assist the victims through our support of the Direct Impact Fund. The PGA and our thousands of Professionals around the country are inspired by Las Vegas’ brave first responders and honored to support Golf Fore Las Vegas.”

The golf tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with complimentary breakfast provided to participants prior to tee off. Aside from championship golf at TPC Las Vegas, the TOUR’s only public facility in Nevada that previously served as host to the PGA TOUR Champions Las Vegas Senior Classic and the PGA TOUR’s Shriner’s Hospitals for Children Open, the event will feature interactive contests for prizes, including longest drive, closest to the pin and a hole-in-one competition sponsored by Club Car.
