Jason Bakewell and Ben Cohoon, race directors at Pink Gorilla Events have announced the 2nd Annual Good Life Halfsy presented by Bulu Box will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Nearly 3,500 runners registered for the sold out inaugural Good Life Halfsy – half marathon in 2014. Event organizers have worked with city officials over the past year to be able to expand the field to 6,000 participants in 2015. Based on last year’s sellout in less than 36 hours of public registration, Bakewell and Cohoon anticipate a similar response in 2015.

“We’re super excited about the enthusiasm for the race,” said Bakewell. “We’re looking forward to growing the event not only for Nebraska runners, but also to hopefully attract more visitors from out of state. We want to continue to show that Nebraska and the city of Lincoln are running destinations and a great community to live and visit.”

The Saturday Run Expo & Packet Pickup will move to the Holiday Inn downtown for 2015 to accommodate the additional athletes and families.

The unique point-to-point course will again start from Lincoln’s Seacrest Field in east Lincoln and end on Canopy Street in the Haymarket. Highlights of the route include Holmes Lake, Antelope Valley, Union Plaza, University of Nebraska’s Innovation Campus, downtown stadiums, finishing line in front the Railyard. New for 2015, runners will be able to enjoy the Haymarket Ballpark trail which will connect Innovation Campus to the West Haymarket along Salt Creek. Participants will again be able to see their triumphant finish on the Cube, a giant digital screen in The Railyard. Runners and race patrons can enjoy the Post-Race Festival at the Railyard on Canopy Street. 2014 Participant Rachel Balkovec said, “Best half marathon I've ran! Organized, professional, great crowd support and the route was awesome! The finish was top notch! Best one I’ve seen in the Midwest”

Official charity partners of the Good Life Halfsy are People’s City Mission and Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity. Runners who don’t get registered before the race sells out will have the opportunity to take part in the Halfsy’s Run For Charity program where participants can commit to raising $500 for the charity and will gain race entry.

Cohoon said participants can expect a unique running experience from the Good Life Halfsy which has now become known for its whimsical cheer stations, on course entertainment acts and bonus special events.  “We want to surprise and delight runners and keep things fresh and new every year,” said Cohoon.
