The Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX) Conference brought 500 of the world’s travel bloggers, journalists, influencers and industry professionals to Billings this week, with meetings due to wrap today. TBEX is the largest conference and networking event of its kind.

Over the last 13 months, Visit Billings staff and partners have been planning for the TBEX Conference including its many associated tours and events. As a destination marketing organization (DMO), Visit Billings is charged with representing Billings as a tourism destination by promoting the city as a  preferred travel stop for leisure, business, and sports visitors. This conference is important for Billings and southeast Montana as it will elevate the region to visitors while strengthening the local economy by filling hotels, motels, restaurants, and attractions. Many TBEX attendees have a strong impact on the travel industry with hundreds of thousands of followers and massive influence to help promote Billings and the state of Montana.

Visit Billings coordinated 38 pre-conference tours for 400 of the TBEX attendees. Each tour will begin and end at Montana’s Trailhead. The tours will give local businesses and tourism partners the opportunity to showcase Billings as an exceptional travel destination, highlighting the arts and culture scene, the numerous outdoor recreational options, historical significance, and the proximity to state treasures such as the Beartooth Scenic Highway, Pompeys Pillar and Little Bighorn National Monuments, State Parks, and Yellowstone National Park.

The conference itself took place at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center 9/12-13 featuring various breakout sessions and keynote speakers on subjects relevant to the travel and tourism industry.
