The 48th annual Hospital is set for June 5, 2021, featuring 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon distances.
Event owners are pleased to announce the release of the new course for the 2021 Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k events. The course is newly modified to include new views of neighborhoods throughout the downtown Kansas City corridor.
"We are excited to announce that Hospital Hill Run has designed a new course with slight adjustments that enhance the overall race experience in a significant way," said Lisa Drake, Hospital Hill Run Race Director. "The new course will provide the same scenic views of our great city with slightly lower levels of elevation!"
The start line for the Hospital Hill Run remains at Crown Center, with runners heading north to the T-Mobile Center and then returning south up Hospital Hill, passing the new Official Charity Partner Children's Mercy Hospital. From there, participants head south on Gilham to turn onto Emanuel Clever II Parkway to enjoy views of the beautiful Nelson Atkins Museum of Art before turning south on Oak Street.
The beautiful UMKC campus is the next enjoyable feature of the course as runners head to the historic neighborhoods of Brookside. Next, runners navigate back onto Oak Street by the UMKC campus and head north on Gilham to 29th Street. Finally, the course concludes with a well-deserved downhill finish into Crown Center, where runners celebrate conquering the hill.
The 10K will follow the same route as the Half Marathon and turn near 41st Street and Gillham Road, heading back to 29th Street and turning into the grand finish at Crown Center.
The 5K route has only a slight change onto 29th Street to head down into the finish in Crown Center.
"Hospital Hill Run will be the first in-person half marathon of the year in Kansas City, and we're excited to offer a new course for eager participants to "Conquer the Hill," Drake said. "We're equally as excited that portions of proceeds from each participant will go to our new official charity partner in Children's Mercy Hospital! All funds raised will go directly to the 'I Love Children's Mercy Fund,' which provides medical treatments, care, and research for thousands in need."
