Longville, Minnesota has announced it is hosting back-to-back sporting events on Saturday, May 4. The two events are as follows:

2013 Run Around Woman Lake, a 30K Run – 5-Mile Run & 5-Mile Walk. The 30K Run starts at 9 a.m., the 5-mile run starts at 9:15 a.m. as does the 5-mile walk. The 30K event and the 5-mile event have different starting points.

The 30K run is certified through USA Track & Field, and is advertised as an excellent tune-up for marathon season, the most locally famous of which is “Grandma’s Marathon.”

A recreational bike ride (untimed) follows the same scenic 30K course as the run around Woman Lake, and according to organizers, is an excellent option for “non-running friends and family members who still want to get out and enjoy the outdoors.”

A Hospitality Tent will be set up at the end of the ride with beverages, a selection of fruits and snacks, and socializing. Registration information for both events is available at http://www.Longville.com/.  Come a day early and enjoy Dinner with the Doc on Friday, May 3 at 6:00 p.m., with a spaghetti dinner and presentation by Dr. Janna Vilen, Family and Sports Medicine Physician.

This event is free for all registered runners, walkers and bike riders; $7 for the public. It will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville. Information is available at 218-363-2630.

Entry fees vary by event.
