The annual Grand Casino Mille Lacs Snow Kite Crossing, March 4-6 in Garrisson, attracts top male and female snow-kiting athletes from around the world to compete in the nation’s most challenging snow kite event. Watch racers soar across frozen Lake Mille Lacs, and also enjoy gear demonstrations and snow kiting lessons. Activities take place across from the "Y Club" on Lake Mille Lacs.

Competitors from 14 states catch the big lake’s winds using high-flying kites as “sails" and ride using snowboards or skis. It’s quite a visual feast to see the sky filled with colorful kites.

The main event is a long-distance, kite endurance run — out and back legs that cover from 16–28 miles. Freestyle snowkiting, sprint races, gear demos, and more also take place throughout the 3-day event.

Events take place from 10 am – 4 pm each day.

More information is available at the Snow Kite Crossing site.
