Duluth to Host Dog Sled Marathon

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon starts from Duluth East High School and runs today through Jan. 30.

The historic 390-mile Beargrease is the longest sled dog race in the lower 48 states and a prequalifying race to the Iditarod. Mushers and their teams brave the rugged terrain and elements of Minnesota's North Shore trails from Duluth to the Canadian Border and back to Duluth.

This year's Gala Dinner is Fri., Jan. 24.

Other race events include the Cutest Puppy Contest and Opening Ceremonies on Sat., Jan. 25. The Beargrease Race starts Sun., Jan. 26.
