Minneapolis, MN, to Host 20th Anniversary Event

The 2015 UnitedHealthcare US OPEN, the worlds largest and most prestigious racquetball championship, announced today that the 20th US OPEN will be held October 7-11 in beautiful Minneapolis, MN.  The Entry Form/Ticket Application is now available on-line at www.UnitedHealthcareUSOPEN.com

The 20th Anniversary of the US OPEN will again feature all the top pro players in the world from the IRT and LPRT as well as over 600 amateur competitors.  Age and skill divisions are offered in both singles and doubles.

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the US OPEN some major upgrades are in store for all the players and fans.  First, the main host club, Life Time Fitness—Target Center, will have completed a $17 million total renovation with the result being the finest athletic club in the world!  All new five-star locker rooms, a new restaurant and bar, new spa and salon, and all new swimming pool complex are just some of the upgrades that will be unveiled.  Second, a completely new 8,000 sq. ft. UnitedHealthcare US OPEN Players Village will be added to the event.  The Players Village will feature large format displays from all the major racquetball manufacturers, bar/concessions, Silent Auction for the benefit of St. Jude/JDRF/Rafa House, and a stage with live entertainment throughout the week.  Lastly, all players who enter the event will receive a special limited edition 20th Anniversary embroidered US OPEN hat, in addition to their tournament shirt, Souvenir Program, and other registration package items to commemorate this historic occasion in the sport of racquetball.

“If you have never attended the US OPEN you need to treat yourself in 2015”  stated Championship Director Doug Ganim.  “There is nothing like it in the sport of racquetball and the experience represents a true celebration of the sport.  Playing in the event, watching the pros on the portable stadium racquetball court, and attending all the evening social functions adds up to a week you will never forget” Ganim went on to explain.

A true anniversary celebration would not be complete without a reunion of all who have played in the US OPEN over the years. Championship Director Doug Ganim issued the following invitation—“I would like to personally invite all who have played in past US OPEN Championships.  I would especially like to see all those who played in the early years of the event in Memphis.  It will be great to see players from the past and present all gathered to celebrate the sport of racquetball!”

For the ultimate experience attendees should consider purchasing a four-person Courtside Luxury GOLD BOX complete with Pro/GOLD Lounge Access for the week.  ALL food and drink for the week is included and guests will get to visit with the top pros in an intimate Lounge setting.  Cost is $2,800 for the four-person box or $800 for an individual seat.  Please call (614) 890-6073 for availability as space is extremely limited.

Another great experience is to participate in the Pro-Am Doubles for Children’s Charities on Wednesday evening.  The first 32 amateurs to sign up will get to play with top-ranked pros in a single elimination doubles draw on Wednesday evening during the tourney (amateur matches will be scheduled around this event for all participants).  Each amateur receives an autographed racquet from the pro partner and food/drink for the evening.  Donation to St. Jude/JDRF is $325.  Please call (614) 890-6073 to sign up.

It is highly recommended that players and guests make hotel reservations as soon as possible at one of the US OPEN Host Hotels (see Entry Form) as every one of them sold out more than a month in advance last year.  Special rates have been negotiated at these hotels however once the room blocks are full these rates will no longer be offered.  Staying in an Official Host Hotel is a big part of the US OPEN experience as hundreds of players from around the world often gather in the restaurants and lobby areas during morning and late night hours.  Don’t take a chance and book your rooms today!

The event is now set-up on-line for entering and the purchase of pro match viewing tickets.  For complete details on the 2015 UnitedHealthcare US OPEN visit www.UnitedHealthcareUSOPEN.com or call the tournament headquarters at (719) 635-5396  ext. 0.
