The PGA of America has named Jeffrey Hintz as the tournament director of the 2016 Ryder Cup, the biennial match between the United States and Europe heralded as the most compelling event in golf. The 41st Ryder Cup will be held Sept. 26-Oct. 2, 2016, at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn.

Hintz, 36, most recently served as the Championship Director for the 2014 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He will be relocating to the area where he started his career, as an intern at the 1999 Coldwell Banker Burnet Classic.

A native of Indianapolis, Hintz joined the PGA of America in 2002 and worked in various capacities at the 2003 and 2005 PGA Championship. In September 2005, the PGA of America named Hintz the administration manager for Senior PGA Championships and the PGA Grand Slam of Golf.

Hintz went on to become championship director for the 2012 and 2014 Senior PGA Championship while overseeing the business relationship with KitchenAid and its parent company, Whirlpool.

"Jeff is a proven leader and has been instrumental in formulating great relationships with the host cities in which we conduct our championships," said Kerry Haigh, Chief Championships Officer of the PGA of America. "The Ryder Cup is a global event, and Jeff and his team will be responsible for managing the many elements that go into producing such an extraordinary event."

Hintz is a graduate of Indiana University, where he studied sports marketing and business management.

"I am thrilled and honored to have been chosen to lead our day-to-day efforts with the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club," Hintz said. "I look forward to helping showcase this world-class competition in a world-class community."
