Michigan State vs. Butler DI Exhibition Soccer Game

The Grand Rapids Crew Juniors and the West Michigan Sports Commission are proud to announce the 5th annual Grand Rapids Crew Cup is scheduled for August 23-25, 2013. The tournament is expected to bring in hundreds of teams from all over the Midwest region and Canada.

As one of the largest soccer showcases in the region, it has made Grand Rapids a premier destination for soccer clubs. “The Grand Rapids Crew Cup has proven to be one of the best soccer tournaments in the Midwest!” indicated Mike Guswiler, President of the West Michigan Sports Commission.  “Marc Frankland and his team continue to put a tireless effort into ensuring that this tournament is memorable for teams participating. This has shown in the anticipated 350+ teams that will converge on the Grand Rapids area this August; with an estimated economic impact of nearly $2 million in direct spending by these visitors” Guswiler added.

Tournament Director Marc Frankland has just made an exciting announcement that this year will feature the first annual Crew College Challenge. The event will bring in the NCAA DI soccer programs from Michigan State University and Butler University to compete in an exhibition game at East Kentwood High School.

"We are delighted to add the Crew College Cup to our already exciting youth soccer tournament.  The Crew Cup tournament is now in its fifth year and boasts to be one of the strongest and well attended soccer tournaments in the Midwest.” Said, Marc Frankland. “Players ranging from U8-U14 boys and U8-U18 girls will compete at various venues across the city for the Crew Cup.  Adding the Crew College Cup just adds to the excitement.  Butler vs. MSU Men's soccer teams will play at Pat Patterson Field (East Kentwood High School) with all proceeds going to Milan's Miracle Fund.  Players competing in the Crew Cup tournament will gain free entry into the game with all adults $7, kids $5 (Under 7s free). This is great event in the soccer world, and is poised to highlight the larger soccer tournament. The event will create a great atmosphere and be available to all ages."

Tickets will be available at the gate on August 24th.
