Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (VAAAC) has teamed up with the University of Maryland Baltimore County’s (UMBC) Athletics Department to make it easier for visiting teams, fans and UMBC visitors to book rooms for on-campus events. As the Official Visitors Bureau for Retriever Athletics through 2016, VAAAC has enhanced its TheHotelsAtBWI.com website to include a new UMBCHotels.com landing page that lists preferred hotel partners for the university’s 19 varsity teams and other visitors to the Catonsville campus.

VAAAC President and CEO Connie Del Signore says the creation of UMBCHotels.com is a win-win for both parties. “Our BWI area hotels are strategically located to accommodate the thousands of families, alumni and fans that visit UMBC each year. UMBCHotels.com simplifies the planning process by providing a one-stop-shop for selecting the right rooms for the right occasions.”

UMBC Assistant Director of Athletics Mike D’Archangelo says UMBC Athletics’ BWI-based partner hotels have created overnight rates and offers exclusive to UMBC guests, alumni, their families, friends, event attendees and conference guests. VAAAC is providing greater exposure for the university’s partner properties even as it simplifies the planning process for UMBC visitors.

In D’Archangelo’s words, “I am very excited about the agreement with Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County. Feedback from our student-athletes’ parents has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re looking forward to what’s to come!”

News of the new site is expected to travel fast as VAAAC cross promotes UMBCHotel.com on its website as well as on www.umbcretrievers.com, the official webpage for UMBC Athletics. VAAAC will further promote the site via signage at UMBC games, print advertising and streaming advertisements on UMBC Athletics’ www.umbcretrievers.tv.

VAAAC is a nonprofit, membership-based destination marketing organization that generates revenues for the local economy by promoting Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay to leisure and business travelers across the country and around the world.
