20,000-Strong Inaugural Across the Bay 10K will Include 4.3-Mile Run Across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge

On Sunday, November 9, nearly two years of planning and preparation by organizers of the Across The Bay 10K will culminate in a crowd of 20,000 people coming from all over Maryland, all 50 states and 13 countries to run across the iconic Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

The 10K route (6.2 miles) will begin at Northrop Grumman’s facility in Anne Arundel County and finish at the Chesapeake Bay Business Park in Queen Anne’s County, with approximately 4.3 miles of the course traversing the eastbound span of the bridge.

Anyone not yet registered but interested in walking or running should contact the event’s charity partners and sponsors who were allocated entries -- general registration for the event is been sold out since March 10.

Charity partners with space on their teams include the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Bosom Buddies Charities and the Maryland Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (Team in Training).  Sponsors with spaces still available include Fleet Feet Sports in Annapolis and Severna Park and Holabird Sports in Baltimore.

Following the race, anybody and everybody is invited to a free concert, produced by PRS Guitars that will take place at the finish area from 8am-2pm on November 9.  The event will include many festivities for all ages, local cuisine and refreshments sold by the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department.

For children who want to get involved, there is a kids’ race, the Clearshark 1k Shark Sprint, and shark themed costume contest taking place at Navy-Memorial Stadium on November 8th at 11am.  The winner of the costume contest will receive a custom branded iPad Mini.  Children must register in advance online at www.bridgerace.com.
