KidSport Winnipeg and Mark Scheifele, Winnipeg Jets forward and KidSport Winnipeg Athlete Ambassador, are pleased to announce the 2016 Mark Scheifele Golf Classic  will take place Monday, June 27  at Niakwa Country Club.

“Last year's tournament was a lot of fun and I had a great time on course meeting everybody ,” said Scheifele. “There were some great golfers on the day but really, it was the kids who came out the winners. I'm sure this year's classic will be a memorable experience for all the golfers, athletes and sponsors who will participate and it's really rewarding to know that the funds raised are helping meet the needs of families and that so many kids in the community will be helped by this event. ”

The golf classic is in support of KidSport Winnipeg and all proceeds will go towards paying the registration fees for kids from financially disadvantaged families so they can participate in sports.

“We are very excited to participate again in Mark's golf tournament,” said Carmyn Aleshka, Director of Philanthropy at 24-7 Intouch. “We love supporting initiatives that directly impact our community; it's a way to help all families benefit from the positive impact of sport. We look forward to the event and support Mark's passion to help give access to hockey and other sports to more kids in Winnipeg.”

Scheifele's inaugural 2015 golf tournament and hockey camp raised over $80,000 for KidSport Winnipeg.

“Last year's tournament sold out and was a great success due to the generosity of Mark, 24-7 Intouch and all the athletes, sponsors and players who participated,” said Matt Erhard, Chair of KidSport Winnipeg. “This year's classic will continue to assist so many families in our community and we hope to surpass the funds raised last year and give even more kids the chance to get off the sidelines and involved in organized sports.”

The tournament includes lunch, an 18-hole round of golf and a banquet dinner for participants and sponsors. More information can be found at kidsportcanada.ca/winnipeg
