Feb 04, 2016

Building on the success of last year's event, Sugarloaf is hosting the 2nd annual Fat Tire Festival on February 6 and 7, 2016. There will be a three-part on-snow race held on Saturday morning, a dual-slalom race Saturday evening, and a Frozen-Fattie guided group ride on Sunday. There will also be demo bikes and guided rides during the day on Saturday and a Fat Tire Festival party Saturday night at the Widowmaker with prizes, movies and music.

The event is presented by Sugarloaf and supported by Carrabassett Region NEMBA and Maine Huts & Trails

There will be a pre-festival event held on Friday evening at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM so participants can pick up their registration packets. There will be a fire, hot drinks and the trails will be marked for evening/night riding from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM so bring your bikes and headlamps!

Fat Tire Race: The highlight of this Fat Tire event will be a three-part on-snow race that will feature racers riding UP the boardwalk trail and DOWN through the banked-slalom course back to the finish and festival area. The race will then head OVER to the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center for the final leg. The race will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Sugarloaf Ski Resort and will start at 7:00 AM from the resort base area. This is an open age group race limited to 100 riders with awards going to the fastest women and men shortly after the race is complete.
