Anglers will travel from across the country to fish the Crappie USA Classic, presented by Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s and hosted by Somerset-Pulaski County Convention and Visitors Bureau, on October 13-14, 2023.

During the year, anglers compete in Local Events, Super Events and MegaBucks Events and earn an opportunity to qualify for the Crappie USA Classic. The Classic will be highlighted by a $125,000 payout in cash and prizes.

Lake Cumberland is known for good populations of nice sized crappie and a good weigh-in is expected at the Championship weigh-in.

“It’s not easy recruiting fishing tournaments of this caliber to Lake Cumberland. We are very thankful the Somerset-Pulaski CVB board of directors chose to host the 2023 Crappie USA Classic. Fishing tournaments leave behind a large economic impact on our community and region. We are looking forward to seeing those big fish reeled in at Pulaski County Park with big winners in toe” said Michelle Allen, Tourism Director of the Somerset-Pulaski County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The 2023 local Lake Cumberland event held in April saw great weights from teams. Pro-Division winners Ben Garland and Barry Turen had a weigh-in of 13.44lbs, with 2.57 lbs. being the Big Fish winner while on the amateur side saw a similar weight of 12.62 and that was anglers Matthew Morgan and Stephen Godby.
