Sara Priegel Announced as Heartland Soccer's Director of Philanthropy and Special Events

Heartland Soccer Association announces Sara Prigel as Philanthropy and Special Events Director. Sara comes to Heartland with over 12 years of experience in fundraising, relationship building and special event planning for local non-profit organizations. Sara received a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Administration from MidAmerica Nazarene University and her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Ottawa University. 

Sara realized she had a passion for playing soccer at a young age, growing up playing the sport, she has always enjoyed what the game has to offer both on and off the field. Sara’s first experience in the nonprofit sector was as an Intern for First Downs for Down Syndrome; this experience gave her a deep passion for working with programs that help improve the lives of people in our community. She is excited to combine these two passions at Heartland to help impact our community by, "Building Better Lives Through Youth Soccer."

“We are excited to welcome Sara as our Philanthropy and Special Events Director,” stated Heartland Soccer Executive Director Shane Hackett.  “Sara has a great background in fundraising, charitable giving and building business support for youth and sports.  With the game of soccer expanding we have a lot of opportunities to serve children in all walks of life and help create healthy athletes.”

In addition to operating soccer leagues, tournaments and futsal, Heartland Soccer holds special events each year including Awards Gala, 5K Run, Spring and Fall Fashion Shows and is planning a golf tournament in the upcoming year.

Heartland is recognized as the largest soccer league and tournament host in the United States. From recreational to premier, 1,300 teams participate each season in league play and 2,500 teams participate annually in our tournaments. Between fall and spring league and annual tournaments, Heartland hosts nearly 85,000 players.

Heartland plays at world class turf facilities, Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex, Swope Soccer Village, Wyandotte Sporting Fields and Olathe Soccer Complex.
