Under Armour Sets 9th Annual All-America Baseball Game

Under Armour, Inc. announced the date of the 2016 Under Armour All-America Baseball Game, powered by Baseball Factory as well as the names of the first 10 players to be selected. The game, which will be played at Wrigley Field on Saturday, July 23, is the 9th annual and will bring together the top 40 high school players in the country.
Under Armour All-Americans are selected by a committee of Baseball Factory scouts and will compete in an American vs. National team match-up. The All-America Baseball Game caps off a four-day, all-encompassing baseball experience staffed by some of the game’s very best players and coaches, including by a formal workout in front of Major League Baseball (MLB) scouts and a homerun derby.

Below are the first 10 players who have committed to compete in the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game:

  • Jack Conlon—RHP, 6’4, 215, Clements High School, Sugar Land, TX

  • Kyle Hurt—RHP, 6’4, 205, Torrey Pines High School, Rancho Santa Fe, CA

  • MJ Melendez—C, 6’0, 165, St. James High School, Montgomery, AL

  • Garrett Mitchell—OF, 6’2, 195, Orange Lutheran High School, Anaheim, CA

  • Ben Ramirez—IF, 6’2, 175, Eastlake High School, Chula Vista, CA

  • Alex Toral—1B, 6’1, 215, Archbishop McCarthy High School, Davie, FL

  • Cole Turney—OF, 6’0, 190, Fort Bend Travis High School, Richmond, TX

  • Conner Uselton—OF, 6’3, 190, Southmoore High School, Oklahoma City, OK

"Baseball Factory scouts thousands of players nationwide to identify the best of the best to represent Under Armour and Baseball Factory at the All-America Game,” said Steve Bernhardt, Executive VP at Baseball Factory and Chairman of the Under Armour All-America Game Selection Committee. "The bar has been set high, but the initial 10 players we have selected are extremely talented and have the ability to match the performance of previous Under Armour All-Americans.  We are confident this class will continue the Under Armour All-America Game’s history of success when they take the field in Chicago this summer.”
Since the game’s inception in 2008, 217 of the 255 draft eligible players from the Under Armour All-America Game were selected in the MLB Amateur Draft including 60 first round picks.   Top players from the 2015 draft include:  Brendan Rodgers (2015 No. 3 Overall Pick, Colorado Rockies); Kyle Tucker (2015 No. 5 Overall Pick, Houston Astros); Josh Naylor (2015 No. 12 Overall Pick, Miami Marlins); Brady Aiken (2015 No. 17 Overall Pick, Cleveland Indians, 2014 No. 1 Overall Pick); Ashe Russell (2015 No. 21 Overall Pick, Kansas City Royals); Beau Burrows (2015 No. 22 Overall Pick, Detroit Tigers).
