Following the Supertri Chicago Triathlon on August 23–24, 2025, early bird registration for the 2026 event has reportedly closed at a record high – double the figure achieved in 2024.

The 42nd annual race in Chicago, Illinois, cemented its reputation as North America’s largest triathlon, with Supertri citing an estimated 35,000 attendees and more than 8,000 participants across the weekend.

The event organiser has reported a total economic impact of US$17.5m for the city. Key highlights from the 2025 event include:

  • An estimated 35,000 total attendance across the weekend (athletes and spectators)
  • One third of participants were first-timers.
  • A 91.7% overall satisfaction rate, with participants rating the event 8+ out of 10.
  • 49% of participants travelled from outside Chicago, boosting visitor numbers to the city.

Michael D’Hulst, Chief Executive Officer of Supertri, said “Chicago continues to set the benchmark for what a triathlon can be – inclusive, inspiring, and impactful. The record-breaking registration for 2026 and the incredible satisfaction rates from our athletes show the unique energy of this event.”

He added, “It’s not just about racing; it’s about community, inspiration, and delivering a world-class experience for participants and spectators alike.”

The 2025 edition also delivered a record amount of fundraising, with thousands racing for charitable causes, including over US$90,000 for Lurie Children’s.

Supertri, which recently acquired the New Jersey State Triathlon, now offers a calendar of mass-participation events in North America, with races in Chicago, Long Beach, Austin, Kerrville and Toronto.
