The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau will welcome the Sports Illinois Huddle June 2-4, 2014, to the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago-Alsip in Alsip, Ill. Destination management organizations from around Illinois will represent their respective regions and more than twenty sports rights-holders are expected to attend this three-day event.

The Huddle is an educational conference for Sports Illinois, a niche committee of the Illinois Council of Convention & Visitors Bureaus that is comprised of CVBs with designated personnel that actively attract sport tournaments and events to their region.

“The Huddle will provide incredible exposure for our many unique sports facilities,” said Jim Garrett, President/CEO of the Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Sports rights-holders and tournament directors will have quality time to learn about our sports facilities and sports group friendly hotels.”

The Sports Illinois Huddle features an appointment-based trade show for sports directors and CVB representatives to discuss upcoming events and tournaments. The Huddle also offers educational sessions for attendees to learn about new trends and potential host communities for sporting events in Illinois, as well as a variety of networking opportunities.

“The Sports Illinois Huddle presents a relaxed, exclusive one-on-one setting for these groups and educates attendees on what Illinois has to offer for amateur sporting events,” said Matt Hawkins, Chair of Sports Illinois. “The Chicago Southland and all of Illinois are uniquely positioned to promote our many terrific amenities and diverse sports and entertainment facilities to these tournament directors.”
