The best-of-five match series in the 2016 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group II First Round will be played in Kailua-Kona between the United States and Poland at Holua Tennis Center at Holua Resort at Mauna Loa Village in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Feb. 6-7, on an outdoor hard court.
Play begins on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m., with two singles matches. On Sunday, play starts at 10 a.m. with two reverse singles matches and the doubles match. A revised schedule for Sunday may take place if a team clinches in the third or fourth match.
U.S. Fed Cup Captain Mary Joe Fernandez will announce the official team roster no later than 10 days before the event. The U.S. is likely to be led by former world No. 1 Venus Williams and world No. 18 Madison Keys, who have already made themselves available for this match.
FED CUP BACKGROUND: Fed Cup is the world’s largest annual international team competition in women’s sport with approximately 100 nations taking part each year. Hawaii will be playing host to Fed Cup for the first time, giving fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this high level of tennis in the state.
