On December 13-15 at the Daytona International Speedway, Challenge Daytona is presenting the Challenge Daytona Festival. Now in its second year, the ‘family friendly international multi-sport festival’ has announced the Junior Challenge Triathlon event for youth aged 8 to 17 years of age.

Challenge Daytona aims to promote healthy lifestyles for children and their families through multisport. The event features two age groups, youth aged 8-12 in one bracket and youth aged 13-17 in a separate bracket.

Youth aged 8-12 will swim 100m in the calm waters of Lake Lloyd, head into the 3-mile bike loop and complete a 0.5 mile run to the finish line. Youth aged 13-17 will perform a 200m swim in Lake Lloyd, head into a 6-mile bike loop and complete a 1-mile run to the finish line.

“Challenge Daytona Junior Challenge Triathlon and Age Group events in triathlon, and duathlon are an opportunity for us to foster a positive sport experience for youth that we believe produces immeasurable and lifelong benefits for well-being and character development,” said Challenge Family CEO, Zibi Szlufcik.

“We’re thrilled to provide an exciting, memorable and safe race for kids. We know participation in sport translates to so many positive benefits for youth such as ability, confidence and desire to be physically active for life.”

There are various events offered at Challenge Daytona – including the Junior Challenge Triathlon race, Sprint and Middle Distance Triathlons, Relay categories, Duathlon and Aquabike events, and 5K/10K run/walk events.

The top six male and female finishers in each Middle-Distance Triathlon age group will qualify for entry in The Championship, to be held in June 2020 at the x-bionic sphere sports resort in Samorin, Slovakia.
