Sarasota-Bradenton is the place to be in 2017. USRowing and Nathan Benderson Park are pleased to announce that the 2017 USRowing Annual Convention will be held Nov. 30-Dec. 3 in Sarasota, Fla.

Along with the 2017 USRowing Youth National Championships, June 9-11, and the 2017 World Rowing Championships, Sept. 23-Oct. 1, the annual convention will give the rowing community an opportunity to gather for all things coaching education and to celebrate American rowing following what will be the sport’s biggest international event of the year.

The four-day convention includes the Advanced Coaches Conference featuring top U.S. and international coaches; a Business of Rowing seminar and panel discussion with athletic program administrators; a Regatta Management track featuring event managers from around the country; America Rows diversity, adaptive and inclusion programming; coaching certification; referee clinics; and a Junior Day series geared toward rowers and parents, in addition to receptions and local social events.

“We are excited to bring the rowing community together to celebrate in a location that will be so important to the sport in 2017,” said USRowing Events Manager AJ Dominique. “Sarasota-Bradenton will play host to us after hosting the world, and we cannot wait to see everything they have accomplished come November. Attendees can look forward to opportunities to tour the international venue as well as other countless and unique opportunities that will make the 2017 USRowing Annual Convention one to remember.”

Nathan Benderson Park and Visit Sarasota County will serve as the local organizing committee for the event. Convention programming will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Sarasota and the nearby Nathan Benderson Park regatta venue.

“We are excited to partner once again with USRowing and look forward to hosting the Annual Convention in Sarasota-Bradenton,” said Robert Sullivan, President & CEO of SANCA (Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, Inc.) at Nathan Benderson Park. “We look forward to the opportunity to welcome the rowing community to the Sarasota-Bradenton area. This event will showcase the accomplishments of the 2017 World Rowing Championships along with the world-class features Nathan Benderson Park offers as a venue.”

Situated just west of Interstate 75 in tropical Sarasota, Florida, Nathan Benderson Park is a unique 600-acre community park providing the public access to a picturesque 400-acre lake and an exciting world of recreational pursuits.
