U.S. Youth Soccer Announces Live Broadcasts from Disney Soccer Showcase
28 Dec, 2018
The US Youth Soccer National League boys teams resume their season Dec. 28, 29 and 31, alongside the Disney Soccer Showcase, and two league matches will be broadcast live on ESPN3 from the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
The matches airing on ESPN3 will take place Dec. 29:
At 10 a.m. (ET), in the 19U Boys Red Division — FC Dallas 00 Premier (TX-N) vs. CUP 00 Gold (OH-S)
At noon (ET), in the 17U Boys White Division — Solar 02 Castro (TX-N) vs. YMS United 02 (PA-E)
This season marks the 12th year in the relationship between the National League and the Disney Soccer Showcase, as the league has held games alongside the premier youth soccer showcase each season since its inaugural year.
The 2018 National League Boys schedule for Orlando features four of the eight teams per division in the 15U through 19U age groups, meaning 72 boys teams will take the fields to play the next three games of their National League season.
Each matchup in Orlando holds great importance in determining which teams will punch their ticket to the 2019 US Youth Soccer National Championships, held July 23-28 in Overland Park, Kan.
Half of the girls teams in the 15U through 19U age groups will compete in their second event of the season Jan. 19-21 at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The National League teams that do not compete in either of the Florida events will continue their season at the Players College Showcase in Las Vegas — with boys games held March 8-10 and girls games played March 15-17.
The National League provides an avenue for teams to play in meaningful matches against top competition from across the country for continued development. In addition to recruiting opportunities, National League teams compete for the National League title and one of four slots from each gender age group to the annual US Youth Soccer National Championships. Teams in the 14U-18U age groups are also competing for a chance to re-qualify for the National League’s 2019-20 season.
The reimagined US Youth Soccer Leagues Program also includes a new multi-state tier with a network of 13 high-level competitive conferences throughout the country. In 2018-19, the conferences will provide opportunities for qualification into the 2019 US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, as well as the 2019-20 National League.
Since its inception, National League teams have captured a combined 56 of 78 possible National Championships. For a list of past National League champions and history, click here.
