The successful completion of the Spring 2026 Under Armour Junior Golf League last month has set the stage for two major youth golf tournaments coming to the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach area this May, both supporting the region's expanding sports tourism and outdoor recreation offerings.
The spring season, which ran March 14 through March 29, 2026 at Aileron Golf Club in the Lake Suzy area of Charlotte County, welcomed boys and girls ages 6–18 to compete in a team environment as part of the nationally recognized Under Armour Junior Tour, which hosts over 3,500 youth golfers nationwide. Top performers from the league's spring season now carry that momentum into back-to-back tournament events over Memorial Day weekend.
"We are proud to continue our partnership with the American Junior Golf Association as we support their championship for a second year over Memorial Day weekend, and to welcome the addition of the Junior Golf Tour powered by Under Armour, which takes place just prior to the AJGA event," says Sean Walter, Business Development Director – Sales/Sports of Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach VCB.
The two upcoming tournaments are:
- Junior Golf Tour Powered by Under Armour:May 21–24, 2026
- American Junior Golf Association Championship: May 25–28, 2026
Both events will be held at Aileron Golf Club.
Players competing in the Junior Golf Tour Powered by Under Armour tournament qualified by participating in spring league play across regional divisions. Top players in each age group who met scoring average requirements — boys ages 9–18 averaging 42 or below, girls ages 9–18 averaging 45 or below, and the youngest divisions averaging 49 or below — advance to national-level competition. The spring league season also offered participants the chance to earn qualification opportunities for Under Armour Majors, including Summer Nationals at PGA National and the UA World Championship at Reunion Resort.
For the AJGA Championship, players qualify through the AJGA's Performance Based Entry system, which evaluates performance at local, regional, and state-level tournaments. This ensures that a player's results, not applications, determine their path into AJGA events.
