Special Clinic for Coaches of All Levels Covers Teaching Skills, Maximizing Athletic Performance and More

The National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) has announced it will hold its event for coaches on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Youth sports coaches working with athletes of all levels throughout Florida have the opportunity to participate in this special one-day coaching clinic.

The NYSCA Select 2014 Coaching Academy runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features sessions covering conditioning, sports nutrition, injury prevention, teaching skills and tactics and maximizing athletic performance. The sessions will be led by top educators in their respective fields.

The Academy is being offered by the West Palm Beach-based National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS), which since 1981 has been America’s leading advocate for positive and safe sports for children. NAYS has trained more than 3 million coaches across the country and on U.S. military bases worldwide.

The registration cost for the Academy is $95, which includes lunch provided by EAS Sports Nutrition and free registration for a certification course which can be completed at the coach’s convenience at a later date.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Coaches that register for the Academy can also attend the Athletic Business Conference (ABC) & Expo and the NAYS Youth Sports Congress – at no cost – on Friday, Nov. 14, at the Orange County Convention Center. The ABC Exhibit Hall features hundreds of sports and fitness vendors, and the ABC keynote session features a nationally known personality; and by attending the NAYS national awards session coaches will have an opportunity to hear inspiring stories and great insight from the NYSCA Coach of the Year and other recreation professionals that they can use with their own teams.

After completing the one-day clinic, each attendee will be registered for the online NYSCA Select program (at no cost) to complete their training and earn their certification as an advanced level coach. This certification includes:

Full NYSCA coach membership

$2,000,000 liability policy and $250,000 accident policy while coaching

One year access to the NYSCA online coach membership area, which includes an online subscription to SportingKid magazine; free access to concussion and bullying prevention certifications; the rate your coach self-evaluation tool; a comprehensive Coaching Resource Library; and more.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone coaching at any level,” said John Engh, chief operating officer of NAYS. “Regardless if you’re fairly new to coaching youth sports or are involved at the travel team or AAU level, the information that will be shared during this Academy will enable all coaches to make stronger connections with their players and help lead them to improved performances.”
