2020 Series Qualifier Schedule | 2020 FSG Series Qualifier Event Listing

The 2020 Florida Senior Games presented by Humana Series Qualifiers are under way as athletes from throughout the Sunshine State begin to compete for spots in the state championships in December. With a Top 5 finish in their respective age group at the Local Series Qualifiers, athletes will move on to the next level, representing their communities in a variety of 24 sports, vying for state titles, record-setting performances, and an opportunity to qualify for the 2021 National Senior Games.

In total, the 22 individual locations that comprise FSG’s series qualifying events hold competitions through November. The 2020 Local Series Qualifiers opened competition this past Saturday in Sarasota with the 31st Annual Gulf Coast Games for Life. The Gulf Coast Games for Life, which consists of 19 competitive sports, started with a 5K Road Race on January 18 and continues with the remaining 18 events February 1-9. Next up on the calendar are the Heartland Senior Games and Lee County Senior Games.

The Heartland Senior Games welcome residents of DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands and surrounding counties and feature 13 events, highlighted by pickleball, track & field, swimming, and tennis.  A complete schedule for the 2020 Heartland Senior Games can be accessed here.

The Lee County Games run from January 31-March 14 and provide competition in 10 sports, including archery, bag toss, billiards, bowling, horseshoes, pickleball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, and the 5K run/walk. Registration and other information about entry fees, venue locations, and schedules can be accessed here.

“The local series qualifiers are the starting points for our 50+ aged athletes on their road to the 2021 National Senior Games,” said Marvin E. Green, Jr., Florida Sports Foundation Vice President of Amateur Sports. “After qualifying with a Top 5 finish in their respective age groups at the local qualifiers, athletes move on to the Florida Senior Games in Broward County in December where they will compete for a spot in the National Games in 2021. We are excited and proudly support the efforts of all of the local communities who provide this starting point for our Florida Senior Games’ participants.”

New to the Games in 2020 will be the Village of Pinecrest Senior Games, making its debut in Miami-Dade County November 2-6. The 2020 events conclude with the 46th Annual Golden Age Games. The Golden Age Games are recognized as the first Senior Games event in the country, dating back to 1974.
