Challenge Daytona Announces Details of Event

Challenge Daytona has announced a partnership with Volusia Flagler Family YMCA as Presenting Sponsor. The event will now be known as Challenge Daytona Triathlon Powered by the Y. The inaugural festival of triathlon and single sport events is scheduled to take place at Daytona International Speedway, Florida, on December 7-9, 2018.

“We’re thrilled to get behind this exciting, community-focused, family-friendly event,” said Teresa Rand, President & CEO of Volusia Flagler Family YMCA. “The Y is dedicated to empowering men, women, and children to nurture their potential, and to improve the nation’s health and well-being. Challenge Daytona embodies this mission and is a unique and welcome addition to our community events.”

Volusia Flagler Family YMCA serves the Florida community with six locations in Volusia County (DeLand, Deltona, Edgewater, Holly Hill, Port Orange, and Ormond Beach). The partnership with Challenge Daytona is seen to highlight a commitment to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. It includes designation as Presenting Sponsor of the sprint and middle distance triathlon events – in addition to the Junior Challenge, Interactive Kids’ Zone and Corporate Relay,.

The Challenge Daytona festival weekend will be the first of its kind at Daytona International Speedway. The schedule of events aims to offer something for every level of athlete, including Sprint and Middle Distance Triathlons, the Junior Challenge kids’ race, Relay categories, Duathlon and Aquabike events, 10K run and 5K run/walk events, and the all-new NASCAR-inspired Pitstop Challenge.

The top six male and female finishers in each middle distance triathlon age group will qualify for The Championship, to be held on June 2nd 2019 at the x-bionic sphere sports facility in Samorin, Slovakia.
