he Ontario Baseball Club proudly introduced its new name and brand identity, the Ontario Tower Buzzers, during a community celebration Thursday evening at Ontario Town Square. The launch party, held in partnership with the City of Ontario, marked the official takeoff for professional baseball in the city, drawing thousands of fans eager to get their first glimpse of the team’s bold new look and high-flying new mascot.
The “Tower Buzzers” moniker captures the adrenaline and attitude of aviation’s most daring flybys, while celebrating Ontario’s deep ties to air travel and innovation. Inspired by the control tower that has guided thousands of flights at Ontario International Airport, the name pays tribute to the community’s can-do spirit and the palpable buzz of a new era taking flight in Ontario.
“From the start, we set out to build a team that reflects the Dodgers’ winning culture and Ontario’s grit and heart,” said Allan Benavides, General Manager of the Ontario Tower Buzzers. “As the city’s first professional baseball team, we’re proud to salute Ontario’s aviation legacy while capturing the buzz around this milestone moment for the community. The overwhelming response we’ve seen with season ticket deposits shows just how ready this city is for pro baseball. We’re excited for fans to create incredible memories at ONT Field and make the Tower Buzzers a true community tradition.”
The team’s primary colors – Dodger blue and white – proudly align with their Major League affiliate, while the primary logo showcases a yellow bee in mid-flight, buzzing around a control tower. Additional brand marks include a secondary logo featuring a more expressive bee – decked out in aviator goggles, flashing a mischievous grin and ready for adventure – nodding to the quirky charm of Minor League Baseball.
The Buzzers also introduced their new mascot: Maverick, a larger-than-life version of the goggled bee, wearing a vintage aviator jacket and flowing red scarf. Channeling the swagger of Hollywood's hot-shot fighter pilot best known for pushing limits and buzzing towers, Maverick embodies fearless energy and sky-high ambition.
“We’re honored to be launching Ontario’s first professional baseball team and have been blown away by the excitement from the community,” said Pat Battle and Peter Freund, Executive Chairman and CEO, respectively, of Diamond Baseball Holdings, which owns the club. “We can’t wait to see Ontario rally around the Buzzers for years to come.”
The Buzzers will take flight at ONT Field beginning with the 2026 season. The new 6,500-capacity stadium will serve as the centerpiece of the Ontario Sports Empire, the largest sports complex of its kind in Southern California. The City of Ontario broke ground on the site in October 2024.
Studio Simon founder Dan Simon, an industry leader in brand identity development, worked with the club to help bring the Tower Buzzers to life.
Thursday’s launch party was emceed by Mario Lopez and featured performances by Ozomatli and Mariachi Divas, along with special appearances by former Dodgers stars Eric Gagne, Joe Kelly, Steve Sax and Bill Russell, in addition to former Dodgers broadcaster Jaime Jarrín. The club is already planning more events to engage the community and build excitement for its upcoming debut in the California League.
