Valentine’s Day just wouldn’t be complete without some chocolate and sparkling wine. Thanks to its newest sponsors, the inaugural Valentine’s Day Run and Valentine’s Day Bike Ride will incorporate both delectable items at these major events of Oceanside Valentine’s Week.

‘So Rich! Chocolates’ and ‘Bon Affair’ sparkling wine will help sweeten the festivities on Feb. 14. The two companies are sponsors of the first-ever Valentine’s Day 5K Fun Run and Bike Ride (choice of five, 14 and 25-mile rides) in Oceanside. At the conclusion of the run and the ride, participants will get to sample the chocolate and, if they are at least 21, try a glass of sparkling wine at the Parks Foundation Wine and Beer Garden at Oceanside City Hall.

“So Rich! Chocolates is honored to be a part of the first Oceanside Valentine’s Week events,” said Johna Nilson, founder of So Rich! Chocolates of Vista, CA. “Nothing says Valentine’s like some delicious handcrafted chocolates! We see this as a great opportunity to bring together other local Oceanside businesses and residents to build a true community.”

“We are delighted to participate in Oceanside Valentine’s Week,” said Jayla Siciliano, founder of Bon Affair of Santa Barbara, CA. “Our wine spritzers are designed for the health-conscious consumer, so it’s ideal for us to align with a run and bike ride. And, it ties in perfectly with Valentine’s Day!”

“We couldn’t have come up with a better pairing,” said event director Jim Curl of Event Media, Inc. “Chocolate and wine are synonymous with Valentine’s Day and Johna and Jayla, two wonderful entrepreneurs, bring a special flair to the week.”

About So Rich! Chocolates: Founded in 2011 in Vista, CA, So Rich! Chocolates (www.sorichchocolates.com) is a family-run business that prides itself in creating hand-made chocolates that are locally sourced and flavored with natural ingredients.  Founder Johna Nilson started her business so that her children could see and be involved in entrepreneurship and crafts. Since she knew chocolate, this seemed a natural choice for a business. Toni Howe, pastry chef, joined the team in 2014. Specializing in pairing with craft beers and wines, So Rich has the opportunity to support and build other local businesses. The passion that drives So Rich! Chocolates is the love of creating in the kitchen and the willingness to try anything in chocolate, making the tasting an experience.

About Bon Affair: Founded by Jayla Siciliano from Solana Beach, Bon Affair (www.bonaffair.com) is a wine spritzer for the health-conscious consumer. It is the first premium wine spritzer made with California wine, purified sparkling water and electrolytes. The wine spritzer has half the calories of regular wine. After securing a deal with Mark Cuban on ABC’s “Shark Tank”, Jayla partnered with Scotto Cellars, a fifth generation wine making family in Lodi, California, to produce Bon Affair with California wine and natural mineral water from the nearby Adobe Springs. Bon Affair has vegan natural flavors and zero sugar. The added blend of electrolytes, grape seed extract and the natural magnesium from the spring water make Bon Affair the ultimate wine spritzer.
