Seven Teams Contend to Represent Northern California Little League

After hundreds have vied for a slot, only the seven top-performing Nor Cal Little League teams made the pilgrimage to Placer Valley this week to compete in the Northern California Little League Divisional Tournament.

Woodcreek Little League has partnered up with Placer Valley Tourism to host this exciting gathering of young athletes at Mahany Park in Roseville, now through July 28th.   Participating teams hail from Twin Cities, Redwood Shores, Yuba City, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Stockton and Fresno areas.

This Major Division 2 tournament is when Northern California Little Leaguers fight for berths to represent Northern California in the Western Regional Tournament in San Bernardino in August and for a chance to compete in the Little League World Series; this tournament in Roseville is the Northern California qualifier, and things are heating up!

In the quarterfinals, only six teams remain in the running (click here for the most current ranks). Last year, Petaluma rivaled San Ramon in the championship game and won by one run.  As the ranks shuffle yearly, we will just have to wait for the championship games on Saturday the 27th to see which team will take home the trophy this year, and which teams will move on to the Western Regionals.

Contenders include: Peach Bowl Little League, Belmont Redwood Shores Little League, West Sacramento Little League, Santa Cruz American Little League, Sunrise Little League, River Park National Little League, and Twin Cities Little League (eliminated).

Placer Valley Tourism [PVT] is made up of the 23 hotels in Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln, California.  PVT recruits and supports hundreds of annual events with grants, marketing, volunteers, and other services as needed.  Information is available at www.playplacer.com or 916-773-5400.
