IRONMAN and Visit Sacramento have reached a five-year agreement to keep the IRONMAN® California triathlon in Sacramento, California, until 2028. The Kaiser Permanente IRONMAN California triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, is set to take place on October 22, 2023, and is expected to attract around 3,000 athletes. As the only full-distance IRONMAN triathlon in the state, the event has already sold out general registration for the 2023 edition, but limited entries are still available through The IRONMAN Foundation.

Sacramento, the state capital of California, offers an ideal setting for the event, with its rich history, landmarks, museums, and farm-to-fork dining scene. The city boasts a Mediterranean climate, making it perfect for outdoor activities and fostering an active community.

Visit Sacramento President & CEO Mike Testa expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that IRONMAN aligns perfectly with Sacramento’s commitment to excellence and providing an unforgettable experience. The collaboration aims to bring athletes, families, and fans to the city for years to come.

The 2023 Kaiser Permanente IRONMAN California triathlon will feature a 2.4-mile downriver swim in the American River, followed by a fast and flat 112-mile bike course through Northern California’s scenic farm and wine country. The race concludes with a 26.2-mile run along the Sacramento River, finishing in front of the State Capitol in downtown Sacramento. Participants will be able to secure slots for the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship races in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i (Men) and Nice, France (Women) as part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series.
