Sep 11, 2023

IRONMAN has announced that general registration for the 2023 Kaiser Permanente IRONMAN California triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, has officially sold out.

Limited entries remain available through The IRONMAN Foundation and Enhanced Athlete Event Experiences via NIRVANA. The event, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 22, is expected to see approximately 3,000 athletes take on the popular IRONMAN race in California’s Central Valley.

“We are excited to see the popularity of the Kaiser Permanente IRONMAN California triathlon continue to grow this year,” said Keats McGonigal, Vice President Operations, North America for The IRONMAN Group.

“Sacramento has proven to be a fantastic race destination and our athletes are eager to race in this amazing venue. We are proud to work with our partners at Visit Sacramento to bring an amazing IRONMAN race experience to athletes from around the globe here in beautiful Northern California.”

David Eadie, Chief of Sports & Entertainment at Visit Sacramento, said “Sacramento is ready to welcome a sold-out IRONMAN back to our city this fall.

Last year’s race was an unforgettable experience for both the athletes and the people of our region and showcased Sacramento as an ideal location for an event of this calibre. We can’t wait to see what’s to come in October.”

For athletes that may have missed out on registering for IRONMAN California, events such as IRONMAN 70.3 Morro Bay triathlon on May 20, IRONMAN Canada on August 27, and IRONMAN 70.3 Santa Cruz on September 10, among others, still remain open for registration.

The 2023 Kaiser Permanente IRONMAN California triathlon will see athletes kick off their IRONMAN journey with a 2.4-mile downriver swim in the American River before embarking on the 112-mile fast and flat bike course through the farm and wine country of Northern California.

The 26.2-mile run course takes athletes along the Sacramento River before finishing in front of the State Capitol in downtown Sacramento.

The 2023 Kaiser Permanente IRONMAN California triathlon offers slots to the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship races taking place in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i and Nice, France.
