Western Nationals Make Softball History

Rocklin, California, will play host when from Friday August 30th through Sunday September 1st 2013 marks a historical Western Nationals for Men's D, Women's C and Women's D Slow Pitch Softball. For the first time ever, these championships are being held together. Sacramento ASA, in allegiance with Placer Valley Tourism, is bringing this momentous event to Placer fields.

Each of the western states have determined, or are in the process of qualifying the top performing teams in their regions to compete in this tournament.  Teams will be coming from Nevada, Hawaii, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Alaska and all over California. The tournaments are held in a different location each year; last year, the event was held in Yuma, AZ, and the year prior-Medford, OR.  In addition to the novel coed lineup and the new venue this year, the tournament has included a special skills competition.

This will be the last tournament of the season for competing Women's teams, but the top four Men's teams will go on to the Men's D National Championship in Ridgeland, MS in September.

Come check out the competition: The games will begin at Maidu Park Friday night at 5 p.m. with a break at 7:30 for the opening ceremonies and the skills competition.  Admission is free for spectators, concessions will be available and beer will be flowing.
