Tournament officials have announced the seeds and main draw for the 126th Annual Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 5 through Sunday, March 8 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, 2000 Spindrift Dr, La Jolla, Calif., 92037.
The Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship features top collegiate tennis players from across the country as well as a strong field of independent competitors, which includes teaching professionals, top junior players, college coaches and former tour players.
The tournament, which is the second oldest tennis event in the United States, uses a dual seeding system in which the top 16 collegiate doubles teams and the top 16 independent doubles teams are each seeded in the same draw. A total of 119 doubles teams are competing for this year’s title.
Yannick Hanfmann and Roberto Quiroz of the University of Southern California are the top-seeded collegiate team. Hanfmann and Quiroz, members of USC's 2011, 2012 and 2014 NCAA Championship teams, captured the doubles title at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships last November at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. The USC seniors are ranked No. 2 in the ITA Division I Men's National Doubles Rankings (as of 2/24/15).
John Kelly of Charlottesville, Va., and current touring tennis professional Denis Kudla are the top-seeded independent team. The 22-year-old Kudla competed in the Australian Open main singles draw for the third time in the last four years this past January after clinching the USTA Pro Circuit Australian Open Wild Card Challenge last fall. Kudla, who holds six USTA Pro Circuit singles crowns and four doubles titles, is currently ranked No. 129 in the ATP World Tour Singles Rankings.

The starting times for each day of the tournament will be as follows: Thursday, March 5 – 2 p.m.; Friday, March 6 – 8 a.m.; Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8 – 9 a.m. (All times are PST) Sunday’s schedule will feature the semifinals, followed by the final (after suitable rest).

The San Diego United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Divisional Convention will be held concurrently with the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club on Sunday, March 8.
