Concordia University Irvine to Host California Coaches Conference

Five-Day Event Draws Coaches, Athletic Directors from Around the Country to Hear University Coaches, Former Pro Players and Earn Credit

Concordia University Irvine’s  Masters in Coaching and Athletics Administration is hosting The California Coaches Conference from June 27 through July 1, 2016, on the university’s campus. The conference, which draws coaches and athletic directors nationwide from high schools, colleges and universities, offers a range of educational and hands-on workshops as well as sessions on health and safety topics, and rules and compliance, with the opportunity to earn credit. The conference includes sport-specific intensive classes in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, softball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, tennis, as well as speed, strength and conditioning. Cheer, which is now considered a sport in some states—including California beginning this fall—will also be covered.

“Today’s athletics leaders are held to high expectations both on and off the field,” said Tom White, program director and founder of the MCAA program at CUI. “The conference is designed for coaches and athletic directors who want to advance their school’s program and their career, or maybe just gain an extra edge through the program’s foundation of character and leadership development.”

A series of keynote speakers  includes:

·         Tubby Smith, Texas Tech Men’s Basketball Head Coach;

·         Sherri Coale, University of Oklahoma Women’s Basketball Head Coach;

·         Jake Olson, USC Blind Long Snapper and Author;

·         Tom House, National Pitching Association, Pitching Coach and Throwing Guru

·         John Savage, UCLA Baseball Head Coach; and

·         Chris Ault, University of Nevada, Reno Former Football Head Coach.
